About the Distillery
Founded in 1918, the Caroni Distillery was once the beating heart of Trinidad’s rum industry, producing heavy, tarry spirits from its own sugarcane molasses. After its closure in 2002, Caroni’s remaining stock was acquired by Velier, whose visionary selections transformed the distillery’s legacy into a global icon. The Hangar Series name refers to the old aircraft hangars in Trinidad where the barrels were stored and aged — vast, humid spaces that shaped the rum’s dense, smoky, and petrol-driven complexity.
