Erwin van Krey, geboren 1959 in Tilburg (NL), woont en werkt in Vught (NL)
Studeerde aan de Koninklijke Academie voor Kunst en Vormgeving in 's-Hertogenbosch, afgestudeerd in 1983.

Met zijn eerste Amsterdamse tentoonstelling raakten bijnamen als 'romantisch voorstedelijk landschap' verweven met zijn non-conformistische beelden.

Zijn verleidelijke werken zijn gebaseerd op 'found footage', zoals foto's uit tijdschriften en folders, filmstills en reproducties uit de kunstgeschiedenis. Hij kiest specifieke fragmenten uit deze beelden om zijn eigen beeld te creëren. De omgevingen en beelden geven vaak een indruk van melancholie en intimiteit, maar zijn ook beïnvloed door het surrealisme. Zijn sfeervolle schilderijen houden een vertrouwd realisme in evenwicht met een vage afstand.

De kunstenaar is uitgenodigd voor vele tentoonstellingen. Zijn werk bevindt zich in privécollecties in Europa en daarbuiten.
