The Ardbeg 8 Years Old for Discussion was available for purchase online in July 2021 for Committee members. The Limited Edition has spent its 8 years of cask maturation in ex-sherry casks. The single malt whisky convinces as a natural bottling unfiltered and uncolored. The alcohol content is 50.8 percent by volume.
Tasting Notes - Ardbeg 8 Years Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky
In nosing, the whisky surrenders to the nose with intense notes of charcoal. The Ardbeg whisky brings aromas of creosote, tar and sweet toffee. Behind that are tones of celery, fennel and crisp green peppers. Milk chocolate and the typical Islay smoke elegantly round out the aroma of the 8-year-old.
On tasting, the Ardbeg 8 year emerges with spicy pepper notes. Sweet soft toffee, caramel and anise form a good balance. Furthermore, the committee release brings menthol and wood. Tones of charcoal and smoked bacon lead into the brilliant finish.
The finish of the limited Ardbeg single malt whiskey is convincingly long-hued and with fresh peppermint. Cloves and smoke linger on the finish of the Ardbeg 8 Years Old.

Color: Light straw yellow 
Nose: Intense, charcoal, tar and toffee, scents of fennel, celery and green bell pepper, milk chocolate, anise and wood smoke.  
Palate: Peppery notes, soft toffee, anise, salted caramel chocolate, eucalyptus, menthol and briar wood. 
Finish: Long and persistent, with hints of fresh peppermint and a breeze of clove.
