Il pittore, scultore e incisore italiano Walter Valentini è nato a Pergola nel 1928.  Agli inizi degli anni 50, segue per cinque anni i corsi dell’Istituto di Belle Arti di Urbino; vi apprenderà le tecniche della litografia e dell’incisione calcografica. Dal 1955 si stabilirà a Milano dove esporrà regolarmente a partire dagli anni 70. 
La sua opera si caratterizza per un senso preciso della geometria, della proporzione e del ritmo. Antichissimi trattati sulla prospettiva e sulla sezione aurea guideranno tutte le ricerche dell’artista sullo spazio, le forme e il loro equilibrio. Anche l'architettura, l'astronomia e la cosmografia rappresenteranno un’importante fonte di ispirazione per l’artista.
