Step into the legacy of the Samurai with this extraordinary mid-Edo period armor, a piece that exudes historical grandeur and meticulous craftsmanship. This armor with light blue lacing and a two-piece cuirass is an exceptional example of Samurai armor, complete with its highly coveted Tokubetsu Kicho Certificate from the Japanese Armor Society, recognizing it as an Especially Valuable Material.

This armor set includes a helmet (Kabuto) with a fierce lion front crest and wooden horn adornments, a face and neck guard (Menpo) with an integrated throat guard, shoulder guards providing robust protection, chest armor offering full torso coverage, armored sleeves ensuring protection of the arms, a skirt-like Kusazuri shielding the abdomen, thigh guards for flexible knee protection, and shin guards extending from the knees to the ankles. The helmet's menacing design, featuring a lion front crest, symbolizes strength and protection, while the intricate silk lacework and the use of high-quality materials throughout the armor reflect the exceptional skill of the craftsmen. Please note that the Menpo and shin guards were added later.

With the prestigious Tokubetsu Kicho Certificate, this armor is not only a collector's dream but also a recognized cultural asset. This certification places it just below the highest rank of Koshu Tokubetsu Kicho, marking it as a truly special and valuable piece of Samurai history.

As with any cherished antique, this armor bears the marks of its storied past. Signs of aging add character and authenticity, while scratches and rust reflect its historical use. Lacquer chips and cracks serve as evidence of its journey through time, and fabric stains, tears and holes add to its unique story. The discoloration enhances its antique charm.
