A Superb Pair of Edwardian .925 Sterling Silver Candlesticks — James Deakin & Sons, Sheffield 1911. Weight 401 grams (weighted).

Elegant and beautifully preserved, this pair of sterling silver candlesticks represents the finest tradition of English silversmithing at the dawn of the Georgian Revival.

Crafted by the renowned Sheffield silversmiths James Deakin & Sons, these candlesticks feature a gracefully tapering reeded column rising from a domed circular foot with concentric reed detailing, crowned by a scalloped knop and a stepped cylindrical candle socket — a design that effortlessly bridges Neoclassical restraint with Edwardian refinement.

The pair carries full and crisp English hallmarks: sterling silver (925), Sheffield Assay Office, date letter for 1911, and the maker's mark of James Deakin & Sons — one of Sheffield's most celebrated silversmithing houses, active throughout the Victorian and Edwardian eras. The marks are struck twice on each candlestick.

The bases are weighted for stability, as was standard practice for candlesticks of this period, ensuring they stand perfectly upright. The silver surfaces retain a wonderful bright polish.

Gross weight: 401g | Height: 15 cm | Silver standard: 925 sterling. Condition: good, with just a minor dent on one of the bases.
