MASQUE AFRICAIN VENTRE FÉMININ MAKONDÉ de TANZANIE 

Les masques ventraux sont coulés en aluminium. Ils sont magnifiquement décorés sur le ventre et les seins.

Le propriétaire de ce masque devait avoir une position sociale et économique élevée dans la société Makondé, car l'aluminium est un métal cher dans cette région.

Les masques de corps célèbrent le retour des jeunes hommes au village après leur initiation à la vie adulte.

Les hommes qui les portent se couvrent le visage d'un masque à visage féminin, qui danse avec beaucoup de sang-froid, tandis qu'un masque masculin dramatise les douleurs de l'accouchement.

Un orchestre de tambours accompagne les danses.

Certains masques sont destinés à inspirer la terreur aux femmes qui ne peuvent voir que leur apparition, le haut du corps penché et la tête tournée vers le sol
