Dial and Hands
The dial is an absolute triumph of vintage Seiko craftsmanship. It features a stunning gradient blue finish, transitioning from a lighter azure in the center to a deep navy at the edges, further enriched by a distinct vertical brushed texture. The dial is exceptionally clean, showing no visible spots, moisture damage, or discoloration. It is adorned with tall, applied faceted hour markers featuring crisp white center inserts that perfectly complement the day-date window frame at the three o'clock position. The applied silver-toned Seiko and LM logos stand proud against the blue backdrop, accompanied by the crisply printed Suwa factory symbol. The baton hands are well-preserved, featuring a central black stripe and showing attractive, age-consistent aging on their luminous tips, completing this highly legible and visually arresting display.

Case and Crystal
The stainless steel case measures a classic 36 mm and is topped by a striking fluted bezel that adds a touch of refined texture. The case retains sharp lug profiles and clearly defined transitions between the brushed upper surfaces and the polished flanks, exhibiting only light, honest handling marks consistent with careful wear. The true centerpiece of the exterior is the dramatic faceted crystal. This complex geometric crystal creates a mesmerizing prismatic effect, fracturing the light and adding incredible depth to the dial beneath. The crystal remains in excellent condition, offering a clear and unobstructed view of the vibrant dial. The screw-down caseback is deeply engraved with the factory specifications and serial number, remaining crisp and highly legible.

Movement
Inside beats the esteemed Seiko caliber 5606A, a 25-jewel automatic movement renowned for its reliability and smooth operation. The movement features a quickset day and date complication alongside hacking seconds. Visual inspection reveals authentic cosmetic aging and surface spotting on the winding rotor, which is typical for a watch of this era and does not detract from its robust mechanical nature. Performing well within expected vintage tolerances; running strong and steady. The timegrapher indicates a rate of +36 to +40 seconds per day.

Strap
The watch is fitted with its original stainless steel multi-link bracelet, a rare and highly desirable inclusion that completes the factory aesthetic. The clasp is proudly stamped with both the Seiko and LM logos in deep relief. The bracelet exhibits normal vintage wear and drapes comfortably on the wrist, accommodating sizes up to 18.5 cm. The end links are appropriately stamped, confirming its authentic pairing with this reference.

Condition
This Lord Matic is presented in stunning vintage condition. The dial is remarkably pristine, retaining its vibrant color and factory finish without any noticeable flaws. The case and original bracelet show only light, superficial wear that speaks to a lifetime of careful ownership. The complex faceted crystal is beautifully preserved, and the overall aesthetic is one of exceptional care and preservation.

Remarks

History
Introduced in the late 1960s, the Lord Matic line was positioned just below the Grand Seiko and King Seiko tiers, offering exceptional automatic movements and sophisticated case designs to the discerning executive. The 5600 series movements were so highly regarded that they eventually formed the basis for later King Seiko and Grand Seiko calibers. This specific model, with its bold faceted crystal and vibrant dial, captures the expressive and experimental design language of the 1970s, a period when Seiko was pushing the boundaries of traditional watchmaking aesthetics.
