Johan Barthold Jongkind (1819 – 1891)
Het aangeboden werk toont een exquisite compositie van een vissersboot in het maanlicht.  De manier waarop het maanlicht wordt weerkaatst is ongekend in kwaliteit.

Een groot deel van zijn leven bracht Jongkind door in Frankrijk. Regelmatig reisde hij naar Nederland waar hij, vooral in en om Rotterdam, inspiratie opdeed voor zijn stads- en havengezichten en landschappen met schepen. Uniek waren zijn landschappen bij maanlicht. Zijn losse, vrije penseelstreek verleent zijn schilderijen de directheid van het werk van de impressionisten. Toch schilderde hij ze allemaal in het atelier. Franse tijdgenoten bewonderden zijn werk en algemeen zagen ze hem als de wegbereider van het impressionisme. Manet noemde hem de vader van de moderne landschapschilders.

Bezichtiging is uiteraard mogelijk. Daarnaast beschikken wij over onze eigen in-house lijstenmakerij, die zijn 85e jubileumjaar viert. Verder maken wij gebruik van restauratoren uit de brancheorganisatie: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. Mocht u hiervan gebruiken willen maken dan horen wij dit uiteraard graag.
