Gekleurd lucite (transparante kunststof) dierfiguur in de vorm van een zebra. Ontwerp en uitvoering van de Braziliaanse kunstenaar Abraham Palatnik  (1928-2020). Datering midden 20e eeuw. Afmetingen 15 cm breed en 14,5 cm hoog. Niet gesigneerd. Conditie uitstekend

Abraham Palatnik was een Braziliaanse abstracte kunstenaar en uitvinder wiens innovaties onder meer kinechromatische kunst omvatten. Sommige van zijn werken bevinden zich in het Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, het Museum voor Schone Kunsten in Houston en het São Paulo Museum of Art. Palatnik werd geboren in Natal en vestigde zich in 1947 Rio de Janeiro, waar hij het grootste deel van zijn volwassen leven doorbracht. Hij wordt beschouwd als een pionier op het gebied van technologische kunst in Brazilië vanwege zijn vroege gebruik van mechanische systemen en licht. 

Palatnik creëerde in zijn carrière talloze dierfiguurtjes, die uitgevoerd werden in lucite, een transparante kunststof. Verzamelaars wereldwijd stellen zichzelf ten dienst alle diertjes te verzamelen. De zebra is daarbij relatief zeldzaam.
