Raffinato tavolo da centro "a vela" di epoca metà Ottocento (pieno periodo Luigi Filippo), realizzato in pregiato legno di mogano.

Il mobile si distingue per l'elegante piano circolare impiallacciato in piuma di mogano, che crea una simmetria naturale e venature dal forte impatto visivo. Il bordo del piano è rifinito con una modanatura a becco di civetta che ne sottolinea la solidità.

L'elemento caratterizzante è il meccanismo a vela originale (basculante), che permette di ribaltare il piano in posizione verticale tramite un fermo in ottone d'epoca. Questa funzione, tipica dei salotti borghesi dell'Ottocento, era pensata per ottimizzare lo spazio quando il tavolo non veniva utilizzato.

Il sostegno centrale è costituito da una robusta colonna tornita a balaustro, che poggia su un basamento a tre piedi mossi (tripode). I piedi terminano con eleganti volute a ricciolo e conservano le loro rotelle originali in metallo, perfettamente funzionanti, che ne facilitano lo spostamento.

Condizioni

Il tavolo si presenta in buone condizioni conservative originali. Sono presenti normali segni del tempo e dell'uso coerenti con l'età del pezzo. Si segnalano alcuni piccoli interventi di restauro d'epoca sul bordo (visibili in foto di dettaglio) e lievi mancanze superficiali sulla lucidatura del piano, che non ne compromettono la stabilità o il fascino, ma ne testimoniano l'autenticità. La patina è calda e profonda.
