Rare Lounge Chair by A. Dolleman for Metz & Co, The Netherlands, circa 1950

A striking and highly elegant lounge chair designed by A. Dolleman and manufactured by Metz & Co in the Netherlands around 1950. This piece is a beautiful example of Dutch mid-century modernism, where structure, material and proportion come together in pure harmony.

The slender black lacquered tubular steel frame is subtly bent into an architectural silhouette, giving the chair a light and refined presence. The generously shaped seat and backrest are executed in thick saddle leather, expertly stitched and beautifully suspended within the frame. The warm cognac tone of the leather contrasts elegantly with the dark metal base, creating a sophisticated and timeless aesthetic.

Over the years, the leather has developed a rich patina, enhancing its character and authenticity. The chair remains in good original condition, with minor wear consistent with age and careful use.

An iconic and minimalist Dutch design — rare to find and highly collectible.
