A propos de l'artiste :
Francis Wolff est un photographe et producteur musical américain de jazz. 
Il est le cofondateur du célèbre label américain de jazz, Blue Note Records. 
Il est connu pour ses photographies utilisées sur les couvertures des albums de ce label.

A propos de l'oeuvre :
Grant Green (1935-1979) est un des plus grands guitaristes de jazz des années 1960-1970. Son style particulier est dû au fait qu'il ne joue quasiment qu'en single note, ses rares accords étant souvent constitués de deux ou trois notes. Cela provient probablement de son admiration pour Charlie Parker : selon une interview, il lui arrivait de passer la nuit à rejouer les solos de Bird note à note.
