Description:
A finely executed genre painting by Anton Roth, a Munich-based painter known for his detailed historical interiors and aristocratic scenes. 

Anton Roth studied from 1917 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich under Angelo Jank. He was a frequent exhibitor in the major German art exhibitions of the 1930s and early 1940s and played an important role in founding the Doerner Institute, now affiliated with the Bavarian State Painting Collections.

Condition:
Very good condition overall. The painting shows fine age-appropriate craquelure, consistent with its period. The mahogany panel is stable and free of warping. The richly carved giltwood frame is original and in good visual condition, with one small loss to the decorative floral motif in the upper center (see photos). No signs of overcleaning or restoration.
