This bottle-holder was designed by Giulio Iacchetti in 2014 for Alessi. The name chosen for this series of items is an amusing reference to Noah (Noè in Italian).. “Noè” (Noah) is not just famous for building the ark to save animals from the global flood, but also for his passion for wine. They say he invented it after first experimenting with wine cultivation. According to the Bible he also became raucously drunk (the first ever recorded case). This is why Iacchetti  have decided to name this series of wine accessories after the biblical patriarch who is said to have lived to the age of 950, spectacularly trouncing beer drinkers, who as suggested by the popular adage, live “merely” 100 years! 

The bottle-holder was designed as a functional accessory that can be both a decorative element placed on the kitchen counter or on the floor (and can be used also to hold other objects like towels). The shape of the bottle holder resembles an upside down bunch of grapes, the image that inspired the design for the bottle holder.

The bottle holder is in a new and unused condition. Delivered with original packaging.

Giulio Iacchetti:
Giulio Iacchetti (b. 1966, Buenos Aires), industrial designer since 1992, has always been on the hunt for new ground-breaking designs. Every-day pieces with a little bit extra: clean design aesthetics and extraordinary functionality. The distinctive characteristics of his work is the research of new object typologies, like the Moscardino, the biodegradable spoon/fork designed with Matteo Ragni and for which, in 2001, he has been awarded with Compasso d’Oro. In 2014, he won his second Compasso d’Oro for the design of the manhole covers Sfera, designed with Matteo Ragni for Montini. Iacchetti designs for various well known brands like Foscarini, Bross, Internoitaliano, Danese Milano and Magis.
