Intagliato da un unico blocco di diaspro policromo del Madagascar, questo vortice in forma di fiamma sembra portare ancora negli spigoli levigati il movimento stesso della Terra. Le superfici, lucidate fino a diventare quasi liquide, alternano trasparenze fumose a campiture compatte di rosso, ocra e bruno: un mosaico naturale che racconta la lenta sedimentazione di ossidi, silici e minerali distribuiti in strati irregolari, poi riuniti in un’unica architettura minerale. La forma a spirale ascendente non è soltanto una scelta estetica: amplifica la natura intrinseca del diaspro policromo, un minerale noto per la sua energia radicata e, allo stesso tempo, per la sua capacità di “aprire” lo sguardo a piani più ampi. Le curve strette, gli spigoli, i piani inclinati e le cavità leggere sembrano seguire una direzione precisa: dal basso verso l’alto, come una fiamma che si stringe, si contorce e poi si innalza.
