The CONTAX Carl Zeiss Planar T* 50mm F1.4 AEJ is widely regarded as one of the finest standard lenses ever made. Designed by Carl Zeiss in West Germany and manufactured in Japan by Kyocera for the CONTAX/Yashica system, the "AEJ" designation confirms its Japanese manufacture. The Planar design — a symmetric double-Gauss formula — dates back to 1896, yet remains optically brilliant to this day. The T* multi-coating, Carl Zeiss's proprietary anti-reflection technology, delivers exceptional contrast, rich colour rendition, and smooth, creamy bokeh that is simply unmatched by modern alternatives. Serial number 5826867 places this example in the mid-1980s production run. For collectors and serious photographers alike, this lens represents the pinnacle of analogue optics.
