Werkelijk een plaatje smaak met een hoofdletter G

Wanneer een goed gesprek over auto’s uitmondt in een gesprek over SUV’s is de kans groot dat het al snel gaat over de Mercedes-Benz G-Klasse. De G geldt als grondlegger van het genre. Toch is het vaak niet het verre verleden dat het hart van de autoliefhebber sneller laat kloppen… Het is de AMG-versie. En van precies die beul uit Affalterbach staat nu een wel heel goed geconserveerd exemplaar in onze stallen: maak kennis met de G55 AMG.

Techniek & Performance
Sommige mensen zullen de Mercedes-Benz G55 AMG een beest noemen. Ik niet: het is een machine. Een krankzinnige machine, dat wel. Ik probeer het te duiden met cijfers. Onder de hoekige motorkap ligt de 5,5-liter V8 die AMG, al schreeuwend en snerpend, wereldfaam bezorgde. Het ‘aggregaat’ trekt deze 2.480 kilo wegende mastodont in 5,5 tellen naar 100 km/h. Er is 354PK beschikbaar en de trekkracht is 525 Nm. 

Exterieur
Het exterieur van deze Geländewagen laat zien dat het samenvoegen van een terrein- en een raceauto kan leiden tot angstaanjagende schepsels. En dat is positief bedoeld, want ook al staat deze op een verlaagd sportonderstel: met een hoogte van 1,98 meter kijk je er al snel tegenop. Daarbij is alles aan deze auto vierkant. Behalve de 19-inch AMG 5 spaaks wielen met zeer goede profiel Pirelli banden. Ook het schuifkanteldak met zwarte hemel maakt deze auto compleet. Toch heeft deze woeste tank iets ingetogens. Dat is de kleur. De eerste eigenaar liet hem uitrusten in zilvergrijs metallic met mooie chromen bullbar. Helder: je hebt geen knalgele wrap of glimmend goud nodig om te imponeren.

Interieur & uitrusting
Een van de allermooiste eigenschappen van dit specifieke exemplaar is de Farbkombination. Het zilvergrijs aan de buitenkant lijkt ertoe gekozen zijn om juist het interieur nog wat meer stance te geven. Hier vinden we rood met zwart Designo nappaleder. Dit moet je zien en aanraken. Smaak met een hoofdletter G, noem ik het. Ook is er een ruime selectie van features beschikbaar die de rijbeleving naast opwindend – ook ontspannend maakt. Zo zijn er verwarmde stoelen en een nette houtafwerking bij de middenconsole iets minder mooi. Met deze beul kun je best wat tijd doorbrengen zonder heimwee te krijgen. Misschien heb je het nieuws wel gevolgd: het hoofdstuk G-Klasse krijgt nu een vervolg met een compleet nieuwe generatie. Die lijkt als twee druppels water op de machine die ik nu in de aanbieding heb. Wel is er één noemenswaardig verschil: deze hier is een instant klassieker geworden. 

Algemeen

De auto is afkomstig uit Japan, vervolgens is deze naar Duitsland gekomen, auto is voorzien van Duits kentekenbewijs, afleveren met een Nederlands kenteken behoort ook tot de mogelijkheid. 

Aandachtspunten: hier en daar kleine gebruikssporen, behorend bij kilometrage.

Kortom, deze strakke youngtimer is in goede conditie en is rijk uitgerust.
