Bozzetto in cera di testa di centauro con base in gesso. 

Elemento propedeutico per la fusione ce l’ha persa in Bronzo. 

La testa, dall’espressione fortemente patetica e tormentata, deriva da una statua di centauro vecchio che, in origine, aveva sulla groppa la figurina di un piccolo erote. La creazione risale al II secolo a.C. e rappresenta un’allegoria delle pene d’amore che tormentano la vecchiaia in contrasto con i giochi amorosi dell’età giovanile (simbolizzati da un giovane centauro ridente). Le migliori copie di queste opere sono quelle in marmo bigio morato, firmate dagli artisti Aristeas e Papias di Afrodisia, rinvenute a Villa Adriana e conservate nei Musei Capitolini.
