A superb and unique antique wall bracket corbel, made in Belgium in the early/ mid 19th century. A beautiful, finely detailed piece, made of plaster with a polychromy of red/ brown/ green and golden colours. Though this bracket depits a mascaron of a horned Devil's head it was used to hold a sculpture of Mary, symbolizing Mary's triumph over evil. The Madonna sculpture is sold separately, please see my other listings. 
An amazing and unique object with a rich history, it would be a beautiful eyecatcher in any interior.

24.5 X 15 cm

OVerall very good condition with wear and minor imperfections consisent with age and possibly a few old touch ups. A stunning piece that would add character to any interior.
