Huber 56. - Aldrovandi (1522-1605), " ... von seinen Zeitgenossen - vielleicht nicht ganz ohne Ironie - als Pontifex Maximus der Naturgeschichte angesprochen, der es darin an Gründlichkeit und Weitschweifigkeit bis zum äußersten trieb. In künstlerischer Hinsicht sind seine Figuren jedoch uneingeschränkt zu loben... ganz besonders lobt er seinen Holzschneider Cristoforo Coriolano (Lederer?) aus Nürnberg, der zusammen mit seinem Enkel die Figuren so elegant geschnitten habe, daß sie eher wie Kupferstiche wirkten" (Nissen, Fischbücher S. 14 f.).
