Geboren te Bagdad in 1965.

Opleiding: Quraish volgde zijn opleiding aan de Kunstacademie in Bagdad.

Hij woont en werkt in Amersfoort.

Quraish besloot in 1994 Irak te verlaten en vertrok naar Nederland. In zijn kunst stelt Quraish het makingsproces centraal; zijn werk is het resultaat van een combinatie van de houding van een kind en een kunstenaar: spontaniteit komt samen met voorzichtigheid. Quraish werkt met een variëteit aan materialen en technieken: hij brengt oppervlakte aan met en krast vervolgens in gips, cement en lijm met talkpoeder. Over de verflagen wrijft hij een laagje was, voordat het werk uiteindelijk klaar is. Inspiratie haalt Quraish uit ‘oer’culturen: symboliek van Afrikaanse volkeren, mythen uit Mesopotamië. Dit is terug te zien aan de opschriften en getallen, die een poëtische tijdloosheid suggereren.

Exposities en prijzen:

Quraish exposeerde zijn werk voor het eerst in 1992 in Spanje. Zijn werk is verder onder meer tentoongesteld in Nederland, Duitsland, Frankrijk en Tunesië.
