La Bibliothèque des Amans, una raccolta di poesie che celebrano l'amore, è composta principalmente da "Odes Erotiques" con una piccola sezione finale di poesie varie, quartine, inni ed epitaffi. Questa è la seconda opera pubblicata di Marechal, pubblicata circa sette anni dopo la sua precoce Bergeries che gli valse il soprannome di "Sylvain", il nome con cui è conosciuto fino ad oggi e che viene utilizzato sul frontespizio del presente lavoro. Nella prefazione, Marechal spiega che il volume non è destinato ad essere molto grande, ma è abbastanza lungo da riempire solo quei momenti in cui l'amore fa una tregua con il piacere per renderlo più piccante.; si conclude con una tabella di versi in cui sono elencate le melodie a cui si possono cantare le varie poesie. Include una poesia ispirata agli eventi scritti nella Gazette de France in ottobre o novembre 1776.
