Glasfabriek Leerdam - Vase (2) - Glass

This is a beautiful matched pair of glass vases, commonly known as 'Ribbelvaas' (Ribbed Vase) or 'Druppelvormig' (Drop-Shaped), designed by the celebrated Dutch glass artist Andries Dirk Copier (1901-1991) for the Glasfabriek Leerdam in the Netherlands. The design, which features a strong, all-over horizontal ribbed structure, is typically attributed to the year 1953. The vases have an organic, teardrop or egg-like silhouette with a slightly narrow opening at the top. They are crafted from a clear glass that has been infused with a subtle, muted, smokey gray tint, often simply called "smoke glass". The set is presented in two complementary sizes, making them a substantial and iconic example of mid-century modern Dutch glass design. Big : 30 x 19 cm Small : 23 x 15 cm
