Contessa Nettel Adoro 6x9 folding camera in good physical condition and tested and working, dating to 1960–1970, with a Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 120mm f/4.5 lens, Compur shutter and rise/fall and shift movements, plus original leather case and three plate/film holders.
Description from the seller
A 9x12 inch camera, depending on the back, but here indicated as 6x9 in the user title. Produced between the 1920s and 1930s after the merger that created Zeiss Ikon, this 'tropen' (tropical) or travel camera is a superb example of German engineering. The metal body covered in leather and the brown leather bellows give it an unmistakable vintage aesthetic that collectors highly seek.
The goal is a precious Carl Zeiss Jena Tessar 120mm f/4.5, a legendary optical design renowned for sharpness and contrast, mounted on a high-precision central shutter Compur. The camera features tilting and shifting movements (rise/fall and shift) that allow for perspective control, an advanced feature for a folding camera of that era.
Technical specifications and conditions (from the attached test).
The condition is very good for an almost century-old object. The camera body is solid and well-maintained, with the original leather bellows in 'very good' condition, soft and intact. Mechanically, it is fully operational: the Compur shutter is functioning, as are all focusing and tilting movements, which operate smoothly.
The Tessar optical presents clean lenses, free of fog or significant scratches. The lot is enhanced by the presence of its original leather case ('pronto case') and three chassis for flat sheets/film, making this set not only a display piece but a complete kit potentially usable by large-format enthusiasts.
