Meyle & Mayer - Miniature figure - Pin with flying duck brooch Art Nouveau - .900 silver

Art Nouveau silver pin with flying duck – Meyle & Mayer, Pforzheim ca. 1900 – hallmarked 900 DEPOSÉ + dragonfly A very elegant Art Nouveau brooch from the renowned German jeweler Meyle & Mayer (Pforzheim, ca. 1895-1915). The dragonfly hallmark is difficult to read and slightly worn. Made of 900/1000 silver (hallmarked "900 DEPOSÉ" and bearing the typical Meyle & Mayer dragonfly maker's mark), finely enameled in iridescent shades of blue, green, and purple. The design depicts a flying mallard with a pearl droplet on its beak – a beloved nature motif from the Art Nouveau period, symbolizing freedom and graceful movement. The hand-enamelled finish is of high quality and largely intact. There are some tiny bits of enamel missing, please see the photos as they form part of the description. Dimensions: total length approx. 15 cm, height 2.5 cm, depth 1.5 cm. Bird itself: approx. 5.5 × 1.5 × 1 cm. Weight: approx. 13 grams. The pin is in very beautiful original condition, with minimal signs of age. The clasp functions properly. A unique piece of Art Nouveau jewelry from the heyday of Pforzheimer enamelwork. Provenance & Hallmarks: Meyle & Mayer, Pforzheim (Germany) Marked "900 DEPOSÉ" and with a recognizable dragonfly symbol (their factory mark). This mark shows wear, but we can attribute this to the contours of the hallmark. There is also a similar piece on another sales site for USD 900, but only for the duck. Suitable for collectors of Art Nouveau jewelry, German Art Nouveau, or enthusiasts of enamel work on silver. Shipping: Catawiki's smart shipping terms. Insured and well-packaged.
