Description from the seller
Wonderful work by the renowned master Rubens Capaldo (1908-1998).
The artwork is sold with its fabulous frame, with tracked and secure shipping.
Capaldo Rubens, born in 1908 in Paris, soon moved with his family to Naples. He briefly attended evening classes at the Academy of Fine Arts in Naples but decided to leave to support his father's work as a 'maiolica artisan,' which he continued after his parent's death. From the age of twelve to twenty-seven, he worked as a ceramist, but his true passion remained painting, which he practiced in his spare time and even at night. Despite not having any academic qualifications, he maintained a teaching relationship for many years at the Institute of Fine Arts in Benevento, until 1973. Rubens, self-taught and prolific, painted diligently, dedicating his entire artistic life to the relentless pursuit of perfection, often dissatisfied with his creations and almost unaware of his talent as well as his role as a prominent figure in 20th-century Neapolitan art. He died in Naples in 1998.
