We are looking at an auxiliary table in the Art Nouveau style, probably produced between the 1940s and 1950s. The table features a marquetry design, a solid structure, and beautiful bronze details typical of luxury craftsmanship from the early 20th century. Decorated with floral motifs characteristic of this Art Nouveau-inspired style. The item has approximate dimensions of 55 cm in height and 30 x 33 cm in width and depth. These types of auxiliary tables were often used to adorn the luxurious interiors of homes and iconic buildings during the height of the Art Nouveau style and until the mid-20th century.
Main Features
1. Materials and Manufacturing Technique
Noble woods in both the structure and the central rosette of marquetry. Very valuable bronze details in the reinforcement of the legs.
Art Nouveau style
The Art Nouveau style emerged from the late 19th century and early 20th century and continued to influence decoration until the 1960s. It reflected a growing fascination with natural materials and curved, wavy designs. The lamp shown in the image resembles this movement, especially in terms of the symmetry details present in the bronze that makes up its main structure, and in the geometry of the glass pieces, perfectly aligned in circles or squares depending on the design.
3. Historical Context
Art Nouveau was a symbol of beauty and a sweet look at classicism, employing luxury materials such as bronze, which, together with the introduction of electricity, transformed interior design. This type of lighting was typically found in luxurious mansions, theaters, and grand lobbies. The 1920s was a challenging decade worldwide due to the Great Depression; however, this style continued to spread because of what it represented: luxury, modernity, and functionality.
Condition of preservation
The item is in good condition, everything checked and original.
Market Prices
The market price of this type of objects is rising and quite variable. In specific auctions, they usually reach prices of 400/500 euros. In other markets, they are generally around 200/300 euros.
