AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

17th Century Italian School - Ecce Homo

A remarkably emotionally impactful work depicting Christ crowned with thorns, portrayed in a half-length view with the traditional red cloak knotted over the chest. The figure emerges from a dark background through dramatic lighting that creates a golden halo around the head, a technique typical of Caravaggesque painting of the seventeenth century.
The painting shows great mastery in expressing the suffering face and in the anatomical study of the body, with particular attention to the chiaroscuro modeling that gives volume and pathos to the scene. The drops of blood on the face and the drapery of the cloak are rendered with painterly sensitivity.
