Antique Empire style table lamp with putti – bronze and marble – circa 1900–1950
Description
Elegant antique table lamp in the Neoclassical / Empire style, made around 1900–1950, likely of French origin. The lamp is richly decorated with finely modeled bronze putti (cherubs) and classical ornaments.
The base consists of a heavy black marble slab with elegant bronze legs. On top of this is a white marble/alabaster block, surrounded by bronze festoons and putti. The fluted column and the decorative capitals are also made of bronze (or high-quality brass).
The lamp has a beautiful, natural patina, appropriate to its age, and exudes quality and craftsmanship. The electrical wiring has been replaced at a later stage, which is common with antique lamps.
A highly decorative and characterful piece, suitable for a classic or eclectic interior.
