Art Nouveau glass vase in smoked and colour‑layered multi‑pane glass, 37 cm high with an 18 cm base diameter, produced in France around 1885–1895 and attributed to Ernest Baptiste Léveillé, in good used condition with preserved gilt decoration.
Description from the seller
Large Art Nouveau glass vase with multilayer glass and golden floral decoration – ca. 1885–1895
Height: 37 cm · Base diameter: 18 cm
Imposing vase in multilayer smoked and colorless glass, blown and bent, with colored powders between layers in shades of brown, white, and red from China, creating a refined marbled effect that evokes the natural mottling of a turtle shell. The form, slender and organic, culminates in a wavy mouth with strong sculptural presence.
The decoration, with a marked floral and vegetal character, delicately emerges from the base through stylized leaves and stems, unfolding towards the upper body in flowers with sinuous and undulating lines, masterfully enameled in relief and enhanced with fine gold. This ornamental treatment, of remarkable technical and aesthetic richness, fully reflects the ideals of the first French Art Nouveau.
Due to its formal and technical characteristics, the piece dates from the close collaboration period between the Clichy glassworks, around 1885–1895, a time especially appreciated by collectors for the excellence of its artistic glass.
Excellent presence and overall condition, with well-preserved gold finishes.
