Description from the seller
A Livorno artist begins studying at the studios of the masters of his city, Gino Romiti, Ferruccio Mataresi, who discover in him valuable technical skills and qualities, encouraging him to continue his activity. The first teacher who guides him towards a figurative language derived from the Macchiaioli tradition is Renato Natali. The Livorno master pushes him towards the study of truth and teaches him to draw from careful, meticulous, and direct observation of nature, the source for his thematic research. He begins creating paintings built with sharp forms, modeled through a skillful use of colors and perfect modulation of light. Daily outings to paint 'en plein air' allow him to masterfully depict the Tuscan coasts, the vast Maremma lands, the splendid Livorno countryside, as well as interior views with transcendent still lifes. Luxardo belongs to that group of post-Macchiaioli artists who were connected to their territory and felt it as an inexhaustible source of inspiration and research.
Join the Gruppo Labronico, an association of artists that since the 1920s has sought to safeguard the legacy of the 'macchia' painters. In 1964 and to this day, it remains the most senior member. The group, which among its founders in 1920 included Renato Natali, used to meet at the Caffè Bardi in Piazza Cavour in Livorno. It was the promoter of the Premio Rotonda and has participated in exhibitions and conferences in Italy and abroad. In 1975, it was awarded the Premio Nazionale Marc'Aurelio for painting. Many of its works are held by private collectors who have appreciated the intimate value of the master (see www.giorgioluxardo).
Pleasant painting. Size without frame 24x34 and it is made on a wooden panel. It comes from my private collection.
