Description from the seller
Studio Harcourt in Paris, formerly known as Studio Harcourt, is a photography studio founded in 1933 by Cosette Harcourt at 11 Christophe-Colomb Street in Paris. In 1934, the Lacroix brothers joined as press managers, along with Robert Ricci, son of Nina Ricci. This studio is well known for its black and white photographs of movie stars and celebrities. Having a photograph taken in the studio was considered a standard for the French upper middle class.
Cosette Harcourt began to specialize in photographs of movie stars and French culture with glamour in black and white. The photos were taken with a luminous and distinctive style that was very recognizable. This typical Harcourt style consisted of a close-up portrait with optimal lighting, often creating a halo of lights and shadows over a background that ranged from gray to black. The subject's attitude was personal, often with a slight smile. Harcourt appears very prominently in each photograph.
