This is a late Victorian to Edwardian gentleman’s walking cane, dating to approximately 1890–1910. The cane features a plain turned hardwood shaft, likely fruitwood or a similar dense timber, fitted with a richly embossed white metal pommel decorated with dense foliate and scrollwork. The pommel is well preserved, with attractive age patina and only light surface wear. The cane shows honest signs of age and use. The wooden shaft has surface wear consistent with handling over time and exhibits an age-related split. The original ferrule is no longer present, which is not uncommon for canes of this period. These aspects do not detract from the decorative appeal of the piece but should be taken into account when assessing overall condition. The cane remains an appealing antique accessory and decorative object, with condition reflected accordingly in the estimate.
