This is a two-pronged rhinoceros beetle. 1. Specimen Information (with label) Sex: Male (label marked "MALE") Collection Details: Date: May 1, 2025; Origin: Southeast Asia and China Display Format: Framed specimen (commonly used for insect collections and science exhibitions) 2. Morphological Characteristics Sexual Dimorphism: Male: Possesses two-pronged horns (one on the head and one on the pronotum), smooth and glossy body, body length (excluding horns) 3.5-6 cm, body color mostly chestnut brown to dark brownish-brown; Female: No horns, rough body surface, slightly smaller than the male. General Characteristics: Body oblong, elytra hard and glossy, legs strong with sharp claws for climbing. 3. Habits Adults: Nocturnal, phototactic, feeds on tree sap and ripe fruit; males are aggressive, using their horns to fight for mating rights. Larva: Commonly known as "chicken worm", it is milky white and C-shaped. It feeds on humus and decaying wood. After overwintering, it pupates in the soil. The entire life cycle is about 1 year.
