WMF Toothpick Holder with Figural Decoration – Germany, ca. 1900
Charming toothpick holder by WMF (Württembergische Metallwarenfabrik), Germany, dating from around circa 1900, a period closely associated with late Historicism and early Jugendstil (Art Nouveau).
The piece is crafted in silver-plated metal and features a finely modelled figural sculpture of a young child playing a drum, standing beside the toothpick compartment. The figure is richly detailed, displaying WMF’s characteristic high level of sculptural quality and craftsmanship.
Both decorative and functional, this type of table accessory was intended for use on formal dining tables and is today highly appreciated by collectors of WMF, Art Nouveau metalware, and figural table objects.
