This African wooden disk mask originates from Central Africa and comes from a private collection in Graz. The mask features a circular form with a stylized human face in relief, characterized by almond-shaped eyes, a straight nose, and layered concentric carving. The surface shows strong age-related wear, patina, and surface erosion consistent with long-term use and handling. The reverse displays clear signs of hand-carving and natural wear. No restoration or modern alterations are visible. Such disk-shaped masks were typically associated with ritual or symbolic contexts and were not primarily intended for dance performances. Due to the absence of documented field provenance, a precise ethnic attribution is intentionally avoided. An expressive and sculptural object, suitable for collectors of African and tribal art.
