Spain, Cross of the Order of the Knights of the House of Trastámara. A rare version from Franco era to Monarchy. Measures approximately 5x5 cm. Good condition. Lacquered hard brass metal. The Spanish Trastámara dynasty ruled Castile, Aragon, and other kingdoms originating in the County of Trastámara in Galicia. It was founded by Henry II of Castile, who transformed a non official branch of the Burgundy into a royal line. Notable descendants include Isabella of Castile, who married Ferdinand of Aragon, the Catholic Monarchs. The dynasty was characterized by the unification of the kingdoms that would form Imperial Spain under Charles V, son of Joanna I of Castile, the last monarch of the dynasty. Joanna's marriage to Philip of Austria, through which she married the emperor, paved the way for the House of Austria as the new dynastic line.
