Exquisite little miniature of iridescent limonite on matrix from Nandan, China. These are not often very interesting, as they tend to be in pretty rough shape, and they aren't as bright as the Spanish or Malaysian material. But in this case, this specimen is quite a bit better, with a fairly complete color spectrum in its iridescence, good color intensity, and virtually no delamination. This arrangement of botryoidal limonite over limestone matrix is definitely an outlier for the locality. In addition to the remarkable quality it displays, the composition is just superb, being composed of two main stalactites coming out of a shared base, which do not actually touch at all, leaving a gap in the middle of the piece in such a way that it almost looks like a piece of modern art. There is no damage to be reported.
