Silver-Plated Egg Coddler with Hen Finial, early 20th-century breakfast tableware.
Elegant and highly decorative early 20th-century silver-plated egg coddler or egg boiler, modelled in the form of an egg and surmounted by a finely detailed rooster finial. The piece stands on three ornate legs with clawed feet and opens into two parts, retaining its original interior cup. The sculptural quality of the rooster and the overall design show strong late Victorian to Art Nouveau influence.
The surface displays a gentle patina consistent with age, with light surface wear and minor scratches from normal use. The piece is complete, structurally sound and presents very well, with the lid fitting correctly and no major dents or repairs visible. This example benefits from its appealing rooster finial, balanced proportions and good overall condition.
A charming and characterful object, suitable both as a functional table piece and as a decorative addition to a collection of antique silver-plated wares.
