Description from the seller
Elegant antique ladies’ parasol, richly decorated with lace and textile embellishments, dating to the late 19th or early 20th century (circa 1890–1910). The parasol reflects late Victorian to early Edwardian fashion, when such accessories were both practical and highly decorative.
The canopy is constructed of fabric panels in soft, warm tones and finished with elaborate lace trim featuring floral motifs. The centre is further decorated with gathered lace and a ribbon rosette, adding depth and texture to the overall design. The interior shows the original rib structure and lining, with age-related creasing. The canopy is intact; the lace shows expected age-related wear and areas of fragility, typical for an antique textile of this period.
The wooden shaft and handle are slender and elegant, with a decorative cord and tassel attached near the handle. The tip is finished with a metal ferrule. Signs of age and use are present throughout, consistent with the delicacy and age of the object.
Overall, the parasol remains intact and displays very well as a decorative piece. It is offered primarily as a collector’s or display object, rather than for functional outdoor use.
A charming and atmospheric antique parasol, notable for its lace decoration, romantic character and strong association with late Victorian and Edwardian costume and accessories.
