Il corallo di Sciacca ha caratteristiche uniche che lo distinguono da tutti gli altri coralli la sua colorazione varia dall'arancio intenso al salmone-rosa pallido caratterizzato da macchie brunastre e talvolta nere, proprio a testimoniare e a certificare la sua origine vulcanica, fino al brunato del corallo fossile.
