An unusual arts and crafts magazine stand, possible sold by Liberty & Co, c1904. Made of solid oak, two side flaps that open out for magazine storage, two small drawers to the side one for glasses the other for cigarettes, a book trough below with sliding bookend to keep them upright. It has some lovely detail moulded curved edges to the flaps, with (later) brass handles and original hinges, exposed dovetails and shaped plank sides and feet. No makers mark, but this piece of antique furniture. was advertised in the Liberty & Co Yuletide gifts catalogue of 1903, and is mentioned in Daryl Bennett's book on Liberty antique furniture. .It does have a patent label.
