Description from the seller

The Citroen SM V6 Maserati is a unique and exclusive characteristic car from automotive history. It was built in November 1971.

In this top-class Citroen car, the same engine as in the Maserati Merak was used.

Only 1,012 units were produced, and this is one of them. Designed by Robert Opron.

This Citroen SM was originally delivered in the Netherlands on 12-11-1971, equipped with a powerful 2.7 V6 petrol engine and a manual transmission.

Motor in technology

Equipped with the powerful and rare 2.7 V6 petrol engine with a manual gearbox, this SM not only delivers impressive performance but also offers an exceptionally smooth and comfortable ride. The famous hydropneumatic suspension provides an almost floating driving sensation, making a ride in this Citroën a unique and unforgettable experience. It is no wonder that this car is considered one of the most iconic models of the 20th century.
The engine runs smoothly. The manual transmission shifts smoothly.

Read meter reading is only 11,684 KM with verifiable National Autopas Certificate.
This SM is one of the last Citroën SMs with carburetors. The engine delivers 178 horsepower, and thanks to its extremely smooth design, it allows the SM to reach a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour. The SM was always marketed as the ultimate Gran Tourer to ensure you wouldn't have to stop for fuel too often, equipped with a 90-liter fuel tank.

Thanks to the hydropneumatic suspension and the short steering column, tackling your favorite winding road is no problem at all. The repertoire of the SM is virtually endless and is partly why the SM remains a very beloved classic.

Exterior

The bodywork makes a good solid impression and the sheet metal is original.
Despite this, there are visible signs of use, and the paintwork in various areas needs attention.
The bottom and thresholds are further hard.
The chrome work is also neat, bumpers straight and complete.
Also equipped with tinted glass, good tires, and the original wheel covers.
The headlights on this car are behind plexiglass, which also looks very good.

Interior

The interior is in original condition. The dashboard is complete and in good condition, as are the door panels.
Interior upholstery such as the seats, carpet, and door panels are in good condition. The rear seat shows clear signs of use.

Additionally, the SM is equipped with good tires and the original wheel covers.

The car is registered in the Netherlands, the registration certificate is complete, and it is MOT exempt.

The SM is equipped with a Dutch registration and registration certificate.

To get a good impression of the SM, you can schedule an appointment for viewing before making an offer.

Worldwide transport possible at favorable rates.

The car is in Muiderberg, Netherlands.

Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
