Description from the seller

Abraham Hulk is a talented marine painter.
He studied at the Amsterdam Academy and was taught by the portrait painter J.A. Daiwaille. Abraham Hulk began, entirely in the style of his master, with painting portraits, but developed into a very skilled marine painter from the Romantic School. His atmospheric compositions featuring Dutch sailing ships at sea were especially popular. Hulk made several trips abroad to America and returned to his birthplace, London, after 1870.
