Description from the seller

Cutlery for serving in a case
France, late 19th – early 20th century
Height - 36cm
Width - 9cm
Thickness - 4.5cm

A cutlery set consisting of a knife and fork, presented in its original case with a leather-like covering (imitation galuchat or leather), secured with brass hooks.
The handles, with an amber hue, appear to be made of natural horn or similar material, finely polished. The metal ferrules are decorated with floral and leafy motifs in light relief, characteristic of French production from the Belle Époque.
The blades and teeth, made of polished steel, display signs of wear and some oxidation traces consistent with age.

The interior of the case, lined with silk or pale blue satin, reflects a careful presentation intended for a bourgeois or aristocratic table, often reserved for cutting noble meats (poultry, game).

State
Good overall condition
Visible wear inside the case (marked silk, old oxidation). Traces of age on the metallic parts, without structural alteration.

Interest
An elegant and representative object of French table art from the late 19th century, sought after for:
collections of jewelry and decorative arts
Curiosity cabinet decoration or classic interior
enthusiasts of beautiful, old functional objects
