Such pendants were commonly worn suspended from brooches or belts, and would have produced a delicate metallic sound when the wearer moved. These were both decorative and symbolic, reflecting status and the love of rhythmic ornament in Viking dress. The piece displays an attractive green patina, fully intact chains, and excellent preservation for its age.
