Description from the seller
Transferware coffee service manufactured by the Ridgway porcelain factory, established in 1792 by the Ridgway brothers in Hanley, Staffordshire, England.
The old factory in Hanley is now a potters' museum.
Ridgway's dinnerware is of high quality and durable, thanks to the high firing temperature and because they are free from lead and cadmium.
Ridgway, like Wegdwood for example, uses transfer printing to apply decorations to porcelain. In transfer printing, the decoration is engraved onto a copper plate, which is then pressed onto paper. The paper print is then transferred onto the porcelain and subsequently glazed.
Pottery decorated with this technique is known as «transferware».
This cream-colored service is decorated with the «Windsor» floral motif: main color dark green, flowers with white, yellow, and red cups, and birds with blue wings.
This set consists of:
1 coffee pot with 1 lid, capacity 1 liter, height 23 cm, width 24 cm, depth 12 cm.
5 cups, height 7 cm, width 11 cm, Ø 9 cm;
7 pots, height 2.5 cm, diameter 14.5 cm.
7 cake plates, height 2.5 cm, diameter 19.5 cm;
1 cake stand, height 3 cm, width 28 cm, Ø 25.5 cm.
1 cake pan, height 3 cm, width 34 cm, depth 17.5 cm.
1 roomkan, height 8 cm, width 8.5 cm, depth 7 cm.
1 sugar pot with 1 lid, height 11.5 cm, width 13 cm, depth 7 cm.
Very good vintage condition. No chips, no cracks.
