The production of carpets in Pakistan began simultaneously with that of the Indian region, as they are historically united. It does not have a true carpet-making tradition, and the designs and motifs are inspired by neighboring regions. An open knot is used in the creation of the carpets, which allows for a change in color tones depending on the viewing angle of the carpet. They are characterized by a high knot density. Some carpets are knotted with a single warp, others with a double warp. Pakistani carpets are not made with local wool but are mainly produced with Australian wool yarn, which makes them very similar to silk carpets. The warp and weft are made of cotton. The dominant color is red.
