Description from the seller

Mario Carrieri (born 1932) dedicated two years to preparing this book, photographing both the city center of Milan and the urban outskirts, capturing aspects of everyday life of the modest working population in contrast with portraits of wealthy bourgeoisie.
His photographic style was inspired both by neorealist cinema in the choice of subjects and by certain aspects of the technique used in William Klein's 1955 book, 'New York': in particular, the grainy black and white prints resulting from some enlargements.
When it was released in 1959, the book was not immediately understood, but today it is considered one of the great classics of Italian photography.

Mario Carrieri, Milan, Italy, Milan, C. M. Lerici Publisher, 1959.

pp. 164. Complete, with 135 black and white photographs.

Item with cards in overall very good condition.

Original copy with illustrated dust jacket with flaps, professionally restored with reintegration on the front cover and spine. Overall good condition.
